The Scripps Networks, which include Home & Garden TV and the Food Network, have created a group called New Ventures and promoted Susan Packard to president of the group.
The job of New Ventures will be to seek out ways to get the programming of the Scripps Networks into broadband, video-on-demand and interactive TV. Packard, who was executive VP of Scripps Networks, will also try to develop new networks and set up strategic partnerships with both domestic and international companies.
For Scripps’ existing cable networks, Ed Spray has moved up from executive VP of Scripps Networks to the new post of president.
In other personnel moves, Mark Hale, senior VP of Scripps Networks, becomes executive VP; Jim Clayton gets a promotion from senior VP to executive VP and chief financial officer of Scripps Networks; and Bob Gerrard, senior VP and general counsel, will add human resources to his portfolio. Steve Gigliotti, VP and G.M. of WMAR-TV Baltimore, joins Scripps Networks in the new post of senior VP of ad sales.
