Thirty-year entertainment industry veteran David E. Salzman is joining the board of directors of Enigma Digital — the newly created Internet network of genre-specific music-lifestyle communities (Daily Variety, Jan. 31).
Salzman, whose film, television and live production credits include serving as prexy of Lorimar Telepictures and a six-year partnership in Quincy Jones-David Salzman Enterprises, told Daily Variety, “I consider myself someone who tries to be in touch with an audience and provide content for that audience.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been a brand-builder. Because music is a powerful tool for creating community, I believe that through Engima Digital we can reach out to underserved masses of people and aggregate that community. If you provide a real service and it delivers, then people will come. I believe in creating loyalty and trust as a foundation for a business model. If you do that, the money will come.
“What I bring to Engima Digital,” Salzman continued, “is the experience of having founded several companies, my experiences as a producer and a network of relationships, including having worked with a wide variety of musical artists.
“I’m extremely impressed with the depth of the experience that Engima offers by providing genre-specific radio over the Internet. I like the true grassroots nature of this new medium. The potential for establishing connectivity within a community is enormous.”
Aside from Engima Digital, Salzman sits on the boards of Event411.com, which provides online event-planning tools, and e4L (formerly National Media), a NYSE-traded e-commerce and infomercial company. He also co-owns four top-50 market television stations and the magazines Vibe, Spin and Blaze.
