CBS business affairs topper Marc Graboff is joining a new team, ankling the Eye to take on an expanded biz affairs role at NBC.
Peacock is expected to announce as early as today that Graboff has been tapped to serve as executive VP of business affairs for the web. He’ll oversee all business and finance-related matters, including contract negotiations, for both NBC Entertainment and NBC Studios. Graboff will report directly to NBC West Coast topper Scott Sassa.
Harold Brook, a 17-year vet of the network who’s served as exec VP of business affairs since June 1997, will now report to Graboff. NBC has asked Brook to remain at the web, though it’s not yet known if he will.
Graboff was the first hire made by CBS Entertainment prexy Nancy Tellem in 1997, when Tellem joined the Eye as head of biz affairs. When Tellem was elevated to entertainment prexy in 1998, Graboff assumed day-to-day control of the division.
While Graboff was part of the Eye’s group of core execs, it’s expected he’ll have more flexibility and freedom at NBC, industry insiders said.
Before joining CBS in 1997, Graboff spent four years at the law firm Meisinger Steuber & Pasich, where he headed the entertainment department. His clients ranged from Saban Entertainment and Showtime Networks to House of Blues, Sports Illustrated TV and C3. He also represented scribes-producers such as Jessica Klein, Jay Daniel and Mark Reisman.
Prior to Meisinger, Graboff worked for 10 years in private legal practice with Lloyd Braun, now co-chairman of the ABC Entertainment Television Group.
