Pax’s Parkinson aid worth $1 mil

Donation to be used for public-service announcements

MIAMI — Paxson Communications Corp. chairman Lowell “Bud” Paxson will donate $1 million in airtime on the Pax TV network and Paxson stations to the National Parkinson Foundation.

He announced the donation, to be used for public-service announcements and to educate the public about the disease, at a fund-raiser Friday in Miami Beach.

Dick Clark and his wife, Kari Clark, hosted the foundation’s 2000 Intl. Gala for Hope, which also honored Paxson.

Paxson made his contribution in the name of Dr. Abram Sohmer, a Parkinson’s patient and the father of Pax executive VP Steve Sohmer.
