The USC Annenberg School of Communication has announced the establishment of a Norman Lear Center.
The facility is named for the creator of “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons,” himself a USC alum. It will serve as a research and policy center, exploring the implications of the convergence of entertainment, commerce and society.
Most of the initial funding for the new center was provided by USC Provost’s University Priorities Fund. Last year Lear himself accepted a $50,000 donation from the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. on behalf of the Annenberg School of Communication.
