Murdoch looks to expand TM3

Mogul still interested in German free TV market

BERLIN — Following the sale of his 49.9% share in German web Vox to CLT/Ufa, Rupert Murdoch has assured the management at budding sports weblet TM3, in which he holds a 66% stake, that he is still looking to expand the network and has not lost interest in the German free TV market.

“The sale of the Vox shares by News Corp. will in no way affect its engagement in TM3,” said Jochen Krohne, TM3 managing director.

Murdoch’s recent participation in the Kirch Group’s digital pay TV platform Premiere World, which offers three sports channels, had fueled speculation about the fate of the Champion League games.

However, TM3 stated that it intends to keep Champion League soccer matches despite Murdoch’s 24% stake in Premiere.
