'Dalmations' bow, production sites to be hit

Teamster location scouts will continue to pressure Walt Disney Co. in the Los Angeles area over its refusal to sign a contract.

Teamsters Local 399, which reps 425 location managers, plans to picket Wednesday’s opening of “102 Dalmatians” at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood and will hit production sites next week.

“We’ve put Disney on notice that we will be disrupting their business as long as they refuse to sign a contract,” said Steve Dayan, the local’s business agent. “We’re also asking the Teamsters leadership to consider a nationwide boycott of Disney merchandise.”

Disney is the only major studio that has not signed a deal. The company has no comment on the protests, which began last week.
