David Gust, former veep of marketing and new ventures for Hard Rock Cafe Intl. Inc., and Paul Turcotte, former veep publisher of Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine and the creator of the Yahoo! Internet Life Online Film Festival, have been tapped to head Netcaster Megachannels.com Inc.
Gust will serve as CEO and Turcotte will be president of the company, it was announced Wednesday. Megachannels.com will Netcast on-demand, live and archived programming including full-length motion pictures, television series, short films and animation.
“David Gust and Paul Turcotte are the perfect people to establish Megachannels.com Inc. as an industry leader in the space of online entertainment,” said William Mobley, founder and chairman of the company. “David brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table that is unparalleled in the current Internet arena and Paul is a driving force in the online community with a proven track record in Internet publishing, entertainment production, sales and leadership.”
Gust created Hard Rock’s online division and managed licensing agreements for food, toy and entertainment companies. Previous to Hard Rock, he worked at Disney, where he did business development and strategic planning for Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Development, Walt Disney Attractions and Walt Disney World.
Besides being part of the start-up team at Yahoo! Internet Life, Turcotte launched the eShopper magazine in 1999.
“We want to be to video what Yahoo! is to technology and the Internet,” Turcotte said. “It’s a lofty goal, but that’s what we’re doing.”
