NEW YORK — Tim Brooks, who ankled USA Networks in November, has joined Lifetime Television as senior VP, research, the femme cabler announced Tuesday.
Brooks will be responsible for all research concerning Lifetime’s programming, online and advertising sales efforts, as well as research for Lifetime Movie Network. Brooks replaces Barry Kresch, who ankled the network last summer.
“Tim’s expertise in determining what television viewers watch and why and his strategic experience in developing new businesses will be invaluable as we expand the Lifetime brand,” said prexy and CEO Carole Black, to whom Brooks will report.
As senior VP of research for USA Networks, Brooks supervised the company’s targeted programming and advertising research in domestic and international markets. While at USA, Brooks was involved with the launch of the Sci-Fi Channel in 1992 and with USA’s Latin American and European cable networks in 1994 and 1995. He also participated in program acquisition, development and scheduling for USA’s domestic networks.
Before joining USA, Brooks was senior VP, media research director, at N.W. Ayer. From 1977-88, he held various research posts at NBC, including director, television network research. Brooks is the co-author of several books on television and media, including “The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, 1946-Present.”
