L.A., O.C. Weekly ups Jablonski to publisher

17-year vet promoted, Sigman staying on as prexy/CEO

Judy Jablonski has been promoted to publisher of the L.A. Weekly and O.C. Weekly after serving the past five years as associate publisher of the alternative newspapers.

Jablonski replaces Michael Sigman, who remains president and CEO. In her new post she will oversee advertising, marketing, new business development, Web sales, special projects and events, fundraising and community projects while Sigman will continue to supervise overall operations of the two papers.

Jablonski began her career at the L.A. Weekly in 1983 as a sales assistant and has also served as advertising director and classified director. She oversaw the marketing and advertising efforts when the O.C. Weekly was launched in 1995 and headed the paper’s 20th anniversary celebration in 1998.

Monday’s announcement came less than a week after Stern Publishing sold the papers, along with five other alternative weeklies including the Village Voice, to an investment group.
