Isgro pleads innocent to extortion

Producer/promoter is alleged member of Gambino crime org

Joe Isgro, the exec producer of the Academy Award- and Golden Globe- nominated 1992 film “Hoffa,” pleaded innocent to federal extortion and loan-sharking charges on Monday.

Two of Isgro’s associates, Valentino Bartolone and Anthony Saitta, also pleaded innocent to similar charges in U.S. District Court.

Isgro, a former independent record promoter — and the subject of a seven-year, failed payola prosecution that ended in 1996 — was alleged to be a member of the Gambino crime organization when he was denied bail last week.
