LONDON — Daryl Hannah, who debuted on the West End stage Oct. 9 in “The Seven Year Itch,” is suing British tabloid the Daily Mirror over its claims that she was truant for four days during rehearsals.
An Oct. 11 Mirror article headlined “Jittery Daryl Goes Walkies,” said the actress had vanished without telling producers where she was or when she would return. It alleged that the excuse she gave on coming back was that she had to go home to L.A. for her dog’s birthday.
Hannah, who began libel proceedings Oct. 13, said the story is completely untrue and that she attended every rehearsal to which she was called. Her only absence was an agreed-to leave over a long weekend to go with the play’s director Michael Radford to the world premiere of their film “Dancing at the Blue Iguana.”
