Music print publisher Hal Leonard Corp. has acquired a majority interest in film and theater imprint Applause Books.
Applause publisher Glenn Young will keep his post in the merged company and will retain editorial control, while Hal Leonard execs, led by prexy Larry Morton, will take charge of distribution, marketing and sales.
Hal Leonard exec VP John Cerullo will take over as Applause’s chief business affairs officer. Applause’s Paul Sugarman has been upped to acting prexy, Kay Radtke to exec VP, and Greg Collins to senior editor.
With a catalog of roughly 45,000 titles, Hal Leonard is the world’s largest music print publisher. Applause publishes 25 titles per year.
