Comedy Central has upped Michele Ganeless to senior VP of programming, reporting to the network’s exec VP and general manager, Bill Hilary.
Ganeless will continue to oversee program planning and scheduling, acquisitions, programming research, operations and international program sales. She’ll also continue her efforts in the network window movie market, where she corralled rights to “Being John Malkovich” and “Man on the Moon” for the cabler.
Michele “has great scheduling skills and unique instincts about program acquisitions,” said Hilary, who has been restructuring the programming department since his own appointment in November. “I am looking forward to working with her closely as a part of my new editorial team.”
Prior to joining Comedy Central in 1996, Ganeless was VP of research and strategic planning at MTV Networks. Before that she served as manager of programming research at MTV’s Ha! network (which became Comedy Central in 1991) after a stint as a research account exec at Young and Rubicam Advertising.
