Four Media Co. has acquired Soho Group for $25.5 million in a move that expands its post-production operations in London with three additional shops that target television and advertising post-prod needs.
In the deal, Four Media, a subsid of John Malone’s newly formed Liberty Livewire Corp., has acquired all of Soho Group’s outstanding shares from Spread Trustee Co.
Soho Group, a privately held firm, operates three post houses in London, including TV advertising boutique Soho 601; Soho Images, the U.K.’s third largest film laboratory; and Soho Computamatch, which provides negative cutting services.
“Soho Group is one of the most recognizable names in London post-production, and we are pleased to welcome them to the Liberty Livewire family,” prexy and chief operating officer Robert Walston said. “The acquisition of Soho Group considerably augments our worldwide service capabilities, both in terms of traditional post-production and in terms of the delivery of interactive content to the television audience in the U.S. and the U.K.”
In March, Four Media acquired SVC Television in a cash deal valued at $5.3 million (Daily Variety, March 6). At the time, acquisition gave Four Media its third post facility in the United Kingdom.
“We are thrilled that Liberty Livewire has chosen the Soho Group companies as the next building block in its worldwide strategy,” said Bob Burnett, CEO of Soho Images.
