Guild brings exec in from Paris to o'see o'seas biz
The Directors Guild of America, acknowledging the increasing overseas business for its members, has tapped foreign expert Janine Lorente to the newly created post of executive in charge of international affairs.Lorente will be based at DGA’s national headquarters in Los Angeles and assume her post July 1. She is currently based in Paris as director of international affairs and international contracts departments for SACD, the French Society of Authors and Dramatic Composers, and has held that post since 1997. Income up 50% She previously served as assistant to the executive director of SACD, which serves as the collecting society for French writers and directors. During the past three years, SACD developed strategies that increased income from foreign sources by over 50%. “We are pleased that Janine Lorente will be bringing her unique expertise to the DGA’s senior management team at a time when film and television production is increasingly becoming a global enterprise,” said Jay D. Roth, DGA’s national executive director. “She is a highly respected international expert on statutory rights for authors and film agreements, and her skills will strengthen the guild’s ability to protect the economic and creative interest of DGA members wherever they are working around the world.”
