BERLIN — German post-production house Das Werk saw a nearly 75% increase in revenues in 1999 to DM74.2 million ($37 million) on the back of robust growth in film production and rights sales. The two divisions saw nearly 300% expansion to $8.9 million, nearly a quarter of total revenues.
Vet German director Wim Wenders’ Road Movies, which Das Werk acquired in June, pitched in the highest proportion of revenues for any division thanks to a string of productions including “The Million Dollar Hotel” and “Buena Vista Social Club.”
Das Werk said it had expanded its market share as Europe’s leading digital post-production house with a nearly 50% rise in revenues to $28.3 million.
Das Werk also has taken the plunge onto the Internet by taking a 25% stake in the newly founded 702 Medien.
