Columbia TriStar Television has made a trio of exec appointments as the company prepares its next development lineup.
Melanie Chilek has been upped to senior VP of reality programming and Zack Van Amburg has been bumped up to VP of development. Former Spelling exec Ron Taylor has joined the company as veep of comedy and drama. All three appointments are effective immediately.
“I’m delighted to be able to acknowledge the important contributions of Mel and Zack and their ongoing involvement with our substantial lineup of first-run programs for all platforms,” said Russ Krassnoff, exec veep of programming. “Ron Taylor, with his track record as a successful programming and development executive, is a valuable addition to our programming team.”

She oversees the production of the company’s reality slate, including six years of “Ricki Lake” and the first two seasons of “Donny and Marie.” She is involved in the development and pre-production activities for “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus,” and “Judge Hatchett.”
Amburg supervises production of “Battle Dome” and “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” for TBS. He joined TriStar in 1997 as director of development.
Taylor will now supervise production of the Pamela Anderson Lee starrer “VIP,” “Rude Awakening” for Showtime, “Oh Baby” for Lifetime and the upcoming actioner “Sheena.”
