Both to report to broadband co.'s Kent

Charter Communications has named Dave Barford exec VP and chief operating officer, a newly created post. In addition, Charter has upped Kent Kalkwarf to exec VP and chief financial officer. Both will report to Jerry Kent, prexy and CEO of Charter.

Barford will assume day-to-day responsibilities for all of Charter’s operations, which service more than 6.2 million customers, and handle the company’s advanced technology, engineering and technical operations.

Barford, who joined Charter in 1995, was most recently senior VP of operations for its Western division. Prior to that, he worked at Comcast Cable in the international operations division for Mexico and South America.

Kalkwarf will oversee Charter’s treasury, finance, acquisition and accounting operations. Joining Charter in 1995 as VP of finance and acquisi-tions, he was upped to senior VP of mergers and acquisitions in 1996 before taking his most recent post as senior VP and chief financial officer.

Charter Communications is one of the nation’s largest broadband communications companies, offering an array of broadband services including cable television under the Charter Cable TV brand.
