Cape Town coffer fat from film feats

Area has made $475 mil from the 70 prod'ns shot since October '99

JOHANNESBURG — Some 3 billion rand ($475 million) has poured into Cape Town’s coffers in the past year from foreign and local film and television crews, according to figures released by the city’s Film Office.

It said that, since October last year, 70 productions — mainly TV commercials, musicvideos and short films, but also two feature films — were shot in and around Cape Town.

In Cape Town’s five-month summer season, there were 152 shoot days.
