Exec to supervise stage management, set lighting, transportation

Dave Beanes has been named vice president of production service for Universal Studios Operations Group with overall responsibility for the departments that support production on the lot.

Beanes most recently served as vice president of production for Universal Television and subsequently Studios USA Television. He will supervise backlot operations, stage management, set lighting, grip, electrical, transportation, stock unit, property and wardrobe along with the production services department.

Prior to Universal, Beanes worked in a variety of producing, co-producing and production manager roles, including work on “Back to the Future” Nos. 2 and 3, “3 O’Clock High,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Amazing Stories,” “Scene of the Crime,” “Street Hawk,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Harper Valley” and “BJ and the Bear.”

Beanes replaces Terry White, who departed from the position late last year.

“With more than 20 years experience in all aspects of production management, Dave brings broad knowledge of the production process and our customers’ needs,” said Jim Watters, president and general manager of the operations group. “His excellent relationships both here at Universal and across the industry will be invaluable as we raise the bar in providing the highest quality service to the production community.”
