LONDON — Avalon, one of the most aggressive players in the U.K. comedy scene, has opened a management company in Los Angeles.
Avalon Management USA aims to exploit the current enthusiasm among American webs for British production companies, talent and formats.
The new company will reps shows from Avalon’s own U.K. production arm as well as stars including Frank Skinner, David Baddiel, Stewart Lee and Al Murray.
It will also rep U.S. talent. Julie James, formerly a manager with Morra Bressler Tannebaum and Steinberg, has already joined the company, bringing her roster of 10 clients. These include Sue Murphy, Paul F. Tompkins and Greg Behrendt.
Avalon’s first big U.S. format deal is likely to be for a local version of “Fantasy Football,” a comedy sports chatshow. Talks are under way with a U.S. partner.
