AOL’s latin unit posts 55% rev rise

$2 mil pooled from advertising, commerce

MIAMI — America Online Latin America, the joint venture of America Online and Venezuelan conglom the Cisneros Group, reported that revenue rose 55% from $2.6 million in the third quarter to $4 million in the fourth quarter ended June 30.

Of that amount, $2 million was derived from advertising and commerce. Revenue for the full fiscal year was $9.2 million, with $3.4 million from ad sales and e-commerce.

Revenue figures only reflect the AOL Brazil service, the only fully operational unit as of the end of June. That service launched last November.

AOL Latin America subsequently bowed in Mexico in July and in Argentina in August.
