Alliance revamps longform arm, ups 3 exex

Newly upped Morea, O'Connor to report to new division head Gernon

Alliance Atlantis’ TV production arm has restructured its longform department, prompting three promotions.

Ed Gernon, exec VP of movies and miniseries, has been tapped to head all longform activity for the company. He will also oversee deals under the Citadel Entertainment banner.

“Ed has been instrumental in growing and branding Alliance Atlantis as a worldwide supplier of first-class ‘event’ movies and miniseries,” said exec veep John Morayniss. “His creative skills and vision will serve our company well as he transitions to an executive and operational role overseeing an impressive slate of projects and producer deals.”

Reporting to Gernon will be Anne Morea, who was upped to senior veep of business operations, and Shannon O’Connor, who has been elevated to director of creative affairs.

“By combining unique filmmakers with our worldwide financing infrastructure, we can continue to make outstanding films like ‘Nuremberg’ and ‘Joan of Arc,’ and continue to brand Alliance Atlantis as a first-class studio for television,” Gernon said.

In addition, Brenda Friend will segue from her veep of development post to become executive producer under the production banner of her company, Old Beantown Films. Alliance Atlantis has signed Friend and Old Beantown to an exclusive longform deal.
