AirWatch employees vote to join AFTRA

News reporting service enters Los Angeles branch

Employees of AirWatch America, which provides news and traffic reports to radio and television stations in Southern California, have voted 13-8 to join the Los Angeles local of the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists.

AFTRA said the vote at Tustin-based AirWatch represented its first organizing attempt in the Los Angeles market with a Clear Channel affiliate. The union, which represents nearly 1,000 AFTRA Los Angeles members working on-air in radio and TV, said it is eager to work out a contract with AirWatch management.

AirWatch is a subsidiary of Clear Channel.
