NEW YORK — Scott C. McCarthy has been appointed senior VP of the ABC Broadcast Group, a new position in which he will be responsible for driving new business acquisitions and start-ups, as well as broadband and digital distribution opportunities.
McCarthy will work closely with ABC Broadcast Group prexy Robert F. Callahan, to whom he will report. The ABC Broadcast Group includes the ABC Television Network, ABC Owned Television stations, ABC Radio Stations, ABC Radio Networks and National Television Sales.
McCarthy’s appointment marks his return to ABC/Disney after serving in executive positions for Internet companies PrivaSeek and Sequel Venture Partners in Colorado. McCarthy joined ABC Radio Networks in 1992 and served as general manager of Radio Disney from its inception in 1996 until 1999. As G.M. of the national radio network for kids, McCarthy’s responsibilities included programming, marketing, promotions, research, affiliate sales and relations and operation of owned stations.
McCarthy also has been an analyst in mergers and acquisitions for Wasserstein Perella & Co. and an analyst in corporate finance for Kidder Peabody & Co.
He will be based in Los Angeles.
