ABC has upped publicity vet Kevin Brockman to senior vice president of entertainment communications.
Brockman will continue to have broad responsibilities for all media communications, PR strategies, talent relations and special events for ABC Entertainment, including primetime and latenight.
He’s also assumed oversight of PR for the web’s Touchstone Television and Wonderful World of Disney divisions, as well as for ABC’s Saturday ayem kidvid programming.
‘Proactive’ in PR
“Kevin Brockman puts the pro in proactive,” said ABC Entertainment Television Group co-chairman Stu Bloomberg. “This is a business where having the goods is only half the battle. Getting the public to know the goods are good is essential, and that is Kevin’s passion. We could not be in better hands.”
Brockman, who’s been VP of media and artist relations at ABC since joining the net in 1997, reports to ABC Inc. senior veep of communications Patricia Matson.
Before coming to ABC, Brockman served as VP of media and talent relations at UPN for three years, helping to launch the weblet and oversee publicity for its expansion. He had previously been director of PR and promotions at Fox Television Stations Prods.
Radio City stint
Brockman began his career in 1986 as a Gotham-based theatrical publicist, eventually taking a gig as manager of public relations for Radio City Music Hall Prods. During his stint there, he handled over 350 live concerts, TV events and theatrical presentations.
Last year, Brockman was elected chairman of the Television Publicity Executives Committee.
