Cabler adds hockey to NBA, NFL, MLB pacts

NEW YORK — USA Home Entertainment will announce today it has inked a multi-year deal with the National Hockey League, in keeping with USA Films topper Scott Greenstein’s stated intention of expanding the video group’s relationships with professional sports leagues.

The division has already cut deals with the National Basketball Assn., the National Football League and Major League Baseball. Partnerships usually include four or five specialty videos a year plus championship videos — in the latest case, a Stanley Cup offering.

The idea is to foster synergies between the video business and parent USA Networks’s other units, including the Home Shopping Network and Internet/e-commerce powerhouse Ticketmaster Online CitySearch.
