Cartoon Network-branded programming to be supplied

SEOUL — Turner Broadcasting has acquired a 17.5% stake in South Korean cabler Tooniverse as part of an agreement to supply Cartoon Network-branded programming to the channel.

Tooniverse has been recapitalized as a result; the rest of the channel is owned by a consortium led by the Tong Yang Confectionery Corp.

Starting in the fourth quarter of this year, two-hour Cartoon Network programming blocks will air daily at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

All programming will be dubbed into Korean and will feature a mix of old and new animation including “Tom & Jerry,” “The Flintstones,” “Looney Tunes” and “Batman.”
