Starz! slate shines

O'Toole, Walken among stars for original pics

Elijah Wood, Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Walken and Peter O’Toole are among the stars who will be featured in Starz! Pictures’ lineup of original movies in winter and early spring, the company announced Wednesday at the Western Show.

Wood stars in the previously announced “The Bumblebee Flies Anyway,” which will have its world premiere Jan. 1. Garofalo and Rachael Leigh Cook (“She’s All That”) are also featured in the film, which follows Barney Snow (Wood), a teenager who finds himself in an experimental medical hospital specializing in the treatment of terminally ill children. The film was directed by Martin Duffy and produced by Steven Haft, Jonathan Starch and Larry Meistrich.

‘Kiss’ kickoff

“Kiss Toledo Goodbye,” a comedic crime thriller starring Walken, Michael Rapaport (“Cop Land”), Nancy Allen (“RoboCop”), Christine Taylor (“The Wedding Singer”) and Robert Forster (“Jackie Brown”), will have its world premiere April 15 on Starz! Lyndon Chubbuck (“Naked Souls”) directed from a script by Robert Easter.

O’Toole, Derek Jacobi, Kris Kristofferson, Leo McKern, Alice Krige and Sam Neill star in “Molokai: Father Damien,” a true story of a famous priest who devoted himself to the leper colony on the Hawaiian island of Molokai during the 1870s. David Wenham (“Dark City”) stars as Father Damien in the film, written by John Briley (“Gandhi”) and directed by Paul Cox (“The Hidden Dimension”).

The previously announced “Onegin,” starring Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler, and directed by Martha Fiennes, will have its world TV premiere Feb. 5.
