NEW YORK — Six networks — NBC, TNT, Nickelodeon, BET, NBA.com TV and Canada’s YTV — have agreed to schedule a simulcast of the National Basketball Assn.’s annual “NBA Team-Up Celebration 2000” special honoring 200,000 public-spirited teens.
The hourlong special will air at noon on Feb. 12, during the weekend of the NBA All-Star Game in the Bay Area, hosted by the Golden State Warriors. Ahmad Rashad and Summer Sanders, who preside over the weekly “NBA Inside Stuff” series on NBC, will host the special, which will feature many pro basketball stars and celebrities from music, film and TV.
The NBA Team-Up program, the linchpin of the NBA’s community-relations efforts, enlists armies of kids to volunteer their time to do good works.
Gregg Winick, senior VP of programming and executive producer for NBA Entertainment, is overseeing the special.
