B'caster, music channel pact for int'l TV

BERLIN — Public broadcaster ZDF and music channel Viva have announced a partnership on a number of projects for German as well as international television.

Viva managing director Dieter Gorny and ZDF head of entertainment Viktor Worms have confirmed that the two broadcasters will be co-producing the Comet Music Awards this year as part of Germany’s annual Popkomm music convention in Cologne.

In addition, Viva will be taking an active part in the making of ZDF’s weekly music show “Chart Attack.” Other projects are in the works.

Viva — which is controlled by major labels Warner, Polygram, Sony and EMI — has been Germany’s leading music channel since it went on the air in 1993.
