Equipment to focus on recording, projection, storage
The Post Group has entered into a long-term agreement with Panasonic’s Broadcast & Television Systems to develop digital and HDTV post-production tools for the film and television industries.
Under the agreement, the Hollywood-based post facility will also serve as a test site for the new Panasonic-built tools and purchase Panasonic’s HDTV equipment, including its D-5 HD as its main recording format.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed Tuesday.
“The Post Group will act as an information exchange enabling Panasonic to receive direct consumer feedback,” said Fred Rheinstein, Post Group chairman.
The high-definition equipment to go into development sometime next year will focus on recording, projection, display and storage capabilities.
“The Post Group is one of the world’s top post houses, recognized globally for its creative talent, technical expertise and pioneering post technologies for both television and film work,” said Warren Allgyer, prexy of PBTSC.
