SYDNEY — Using the latest camera and exploration technology, Oz producer-distrib Beyond Prods. is teaming with Quest Australia Prods. and wildlife docu cabler Animal Planet U.S. to produce “The Quest,” a five-hour science-adventure miniseries, in the Caribbean.
Filming on land and underwater, mini is skedded to debut in early 2000. It will follow the multimillion-dollar research vessel the Quest on a four-month voyage of discovery, traveling via the Panama Canal to the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and the as-yet-unexplored Navassa Island in search of new and unseen species.
Billed as a landmark production set to “redefine the boundaries of adventure programming,” “Quest” will also screen on Discovery Intl. and Animal Planet Europe, with Beyond distributing internationally, including pre-sales already confirmed to Germany and France.
