Cabler Odyssey has signed a significant affiliate deal with Time Warner Cable that will bring the web an additional 4 million subscribers.
Odyssey’s Time Warner deal will include being added to Time Warner systems in Milwaukee (415,000 subscribers) and Tampa (236,000 subscribers),
The affiliate contract calls for Time Warner to carry Odyssey only on coveted analog channels, which means subscribers will receive the web on highly penetrated basic tiers.
Not including the new Time Warner deal, Odyssey has 29 million subscribers. The cabler hopes to pass 50 million subscribers within four years.
The Los Angeles-based Odyssey features family-oriented entertainment programming from its part-owners Hallmark Entertainment and the Jim Henson Co.
The channel’s other owners are John Malone’s Liberty Media Group and the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, a consortium of 80 groups.
In addition to family entertainment programming, Odyssey’s schedule includes religious shows.
Including Monday’s Time Warner announcement, Odyssey has cut deals to add a total of 8.5 million analog subscribers.
