NEW DELHI — Rupert Murdoch’s Star TV is boosting its activities in India.
The satcaster plans to enter film production, launch regional language news channels and resurrect its stalled satellite direct-to-home project. Star is also considering the feasibility of taking the Indian entity public.
Top names sought
The company is already in negotiation with some of the top names in the Indian film industry for film production.
Star has decided to continue its deal with New Delhi Television, a production company, for telecasting of Star News and will use its existing infrastructure for starting regional language news channels.
Star TV exec director Gareth Chang visited Delhi Monday to meet with Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley.
