Mandarin, India, S. Asia channels hit 100 mil homes

HONG KONG — MTV Asia announced that it is now distributed to more than 100 million homes in the region.

As of the end of 1998, the network said its three channels — MTV Mandarin, MTV India and MTV Southeast Asia – reach nearly 77 million homes on a daily basis and 24 million additional homes through terrestrial syndication.

MTV ranked its key markets as India (10 million homes), Taiwan (over 4 million), China (37 million), South Korea (over 2 million), Indonesia (16 million) and the Philippines (over 5 million).

Earlier this month, MTV announced a strategic alliance with CJ Entertainment in South Korea to produce customized music programming on cable channel m.net.
