France gets 1 mil to Disney Channel

PARIS — The Disney Channel has notched 1 million subscribers in France, a record score for a channel only available as a paid-for option.

Disney Channel is broadcast on all of the cable networks in France but exclusively on CanalSatellite for a monthly fee of 35 francs ($5.38).

Fox Kids, Cartoon and the French children’s channel Canal J are also broadcast on CanalSatellite, while rival digital platform Television Par Satellite, TPS, shows the children’s theme channel Teletoon.
