Mary Stuart Masterson and Anthony LaPaglia have been tapped to star in the CBS telepic thriller “Black and Blue,” based on Anna Quindlen’s 1998 book by the same title.
The best-selling novel got a boost last year when it was picked as an “Oprah’s Book Club” title.
Masterson (“Fried Green Tomatoes”) will play a Long Island housewife who changes her identity after fleeing her home with her 10-year-old son to escape her abusive husband, a New York City cop played by LaPaglia (“Summer of Sam”).
Bobby, however, uses all available law enforcement resources to track down his wife and son.
Telepic is being produced in Toronto by Evolve Entertainment. Gerald W. Abrams (“Family of Spies”) and Jennifer Alward (“David’s Mother”) are exec producing. Paul Shapiro is directing from a script by April Smith.
