And now for Evel Knievel’s latest stunt: The famed thrill-seeker has signed on as color commentator of UPN’s upcoming stunt reality series “I Dare You! The Ultimate Challenge.”
Knievel will co-host the hourlong series along with Lee Reherman (“RollerJam”). Tyler Harcott and Traci Melchor will serve as field reporters.
Nash Entertainment produces “I Dare You,” which UPN previously announced will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. beginning Jan. 18. The series is shot in Las Vegas.
Executive producer Bruce Nash said he actively sought out Knievel, who gained fame for jumping a motorcycle over 14 Greyhound buses, as well as over the quarter-mile-wide Snake River Canyon and 151 feet over the Caesar’s Palace fountains.
“He’s the king of the daredevils,” Nash said. “As soon as we sold the show, he was the one I wanted to get. I’ve got an Evel Knievel doll sitting on my shelf. He’s the man.”
Nash said Knievel is on the mend following liver transplant surgery, and will be ready to shoot the series, which will include classic footage of Knievel’s famous jumps.
A February sweeps episode of “I Dare You” will also feature an attempt by daredevil Bubba Blackwell to break Knievel’s record by jumping over 15 buses.
