‘Invisible’ gets look

Sci-Fi plans pilot; 'Instinct,' 'Contract' set

USA Networks’ Sci-Fi Channel has greenlit production of a two-hour pilot for a TV series version of the classic “The Invisible Man.”

Pilot, which will start production in August, will be exec produced by Matt Greenberg (“Halloween: H2O”) and helmed by commercial director Breck Eisner, son of Disney chief executive Michael Eisner.

USA Network also announced the cabler has ordered “Maternal Instinct” and “Under Contract” as one-hour dramatic series, along with four backup scripts for each show.

“Material Instinct,” exec produced by Steve Barancik (“The Last Seduction”), Stacy Kramer and Lisa Tornell, follows a femme fatale as she exacts discipline on any chauvinist pig foolish enough to cross her path.

Cop cases

“Under Contract,” from writer-producer Ron Senkowski (“Table for One”) is loosely based upon the cases of Al Smith, a cop who goes undercover as a hit man.

In addition, USA has hired Neil Moritz, producer of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” to co-executive produce an original movie called “Cabin by the Lake.” The suspense thriller, scheduled to premiere in the winter, will star Judd Nelson (“Suddenly Susan”), Hedy Burress (“If These Walls Could Talk”) and Michael Weatherly (“The Last Days of Disco”).
