Clinton speech cows bows

Nothing like a war to screw up your midseason launches. President Clinton’s Wednesday address to the nation on Kosovo at 8 p.m. Eastern time sent ABC and CBS scrambling. The Alphabet web bowed midseason comedies “It’s Like, You Know …” at 8:30 p.m. and “The Norm Show” at 9:30 p.m. It aired Clinton’s live address at 8 p.m., with a repeat of “Dharma & Greg” on the West Coast, neither of which served as an ideal lead-in for the new DreamWorks series. The 8 p.m. timeslot debut for CBS’ “Payne” also got pushed back to 8:30 p.m., and “The Nanny” was preempted on the East Coast.
