Award-winning director returns for eighth production

Director Louis J. Horvitz will be returning to the kudocast that has twice brought him golden statuettes, as he helms the Emmy awards show for the eighth time.

Horvitz’s return was announced by the Emmycast’s executive producer, Don Mischer, who stated: “I am thrilled that Lou will be part of our production team … His experience and talent are unparalleled.”

The helmer, who has directed more than 5,000 hours of TV, earned his Emmys in 1997 for “The Kennedy Center Honors” and in 1998 for “The 70th Annual Academy Awards.” He also won a DGA award in 1997 for “The Kennedy Center Honors.”

The 51st annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on Fox from 8 p.m. Sept. 12 from the Shrine Auditorium.
