Fox picks up two comedy pilots

Leifer's 'Chicks,' Breuer skein get greenlight

Fox has picked up a Greenblatt Janollari Studio comedy pilot created by Carol Leifer and a Touchstone TV comedy pilot starring Jim Breuer (“Saturday Night Live”).

Leifer, a former writer on “Seinfeld” and “The Larry Sanders Show” who also created and starred in the short-lived WB comedy “Alright Already,” is writing “Chicks,” but not starring in it. The show centers on three female twentysomething roommates in Los Angeles.

Touchstone’s untitled Breuer comedy is executive produced by Robert Simonds, producer of “The Waterboy” and “The Wedding Singer.” It was penned and created by Jeff Lowell, who has written for “Spin City,” “Sports Night,” “Cybill” and “The Drew Carey Show.”

The sitcom, based on the comedy of Breuer, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, is about a couple of newlyweds.

Breuer and Lowell are repped by UTA.
