Columbia TriStar Television has signed scribes Jack Amiel and Michael Begler to a two-year overall deal.
Terms of the pact were not disclosed, but the writing team will focus on developing sitcoms for the studio. Sarah Timberman, executive vice president of series development at CTTV, announced the deal Friday.
The duo’s credits include a producing stint on the upcoming Fox single-camera comedy “Malcolm in the Middle.” Amiel and Begler also helped produce “The Tony Danza Show,” “The Jeff Foxworthy Show” and “Empty Nest.”
“We feel privileged to be in on the ground floor, so to speak, in terms of their lives as series creators and show runners,” Timberman said. “We expect great things from them.”
Amiel and Begler are repped by Aaron Kaplan of William Morris.
