Britain’s Channel 5 has inked a deal for the exclusive terrestrial premiere rights to Warner Bros.’ 1999 theatrical releases. The package includes “The Matrix,” “Wild, Wild West,” “Analyze This,” “Message in a Bottle,” “South Park: The Movie,” “Payback” and “Deep Blue Sea.”
The agreement continues the commercial broadcaster’s previous deal with Warner Bros. International TV, which has already seen the channel screen many of its releases. The package of 1999 titles will be available for Channel 5 to screen in the year 2002.
The deal was inked by Channel Five director of programs Dawn Airey and WBIT president Jeffrey Schlesinger.
“With the 1999 theatrical slate, Channel 5 is getting a batch of films that are both box office hits and critically acclaimed,” WBIT prexy Schlesinger said.
