ABC has greenlit a pilot script for “Holmes & Watson,” a modern-day detective drama from scribe Peter Iliff (“Varsity Blues”) and helmer Gary Fleder (“Kiss the Girls.”)
Iliff and Fleder will serve as exec producers on the project, designed as a weekly whodunnit in which Scotland Yard’s Sherlock Holmes and his partner are now private eyes prowling Venice Beach.
Rick King will co-exec produce the project if ABC orders a formal pilot.
In addition to writing the original 1986 script for “Varsity Blues,” Iliff’s credits include “Patriot Games,” “Point Break,” “Prayer of the Rollerboys” and the upcoming “3rd Degree.”
Fleder directed “Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead” and the upcoming Gray Sinise-Madeline Stowe pic “The Imposter.”
Iliff and Fleder are repped by William Morris.
