Bruce Vilanch, subject of Miramax’s docu-comedy “Get Bruce,” is enjoying doing the talking, rather than being known solely as the man who puts words in the mouths of Hollywood’s comic talents.
At Monday’s preem at Laemmle’s Sunset 5, Vilanch said he found the attention “very odd. I now understand why divas are temperamental.”
Director Andrew J. Kuehn, who threw open his Moroccan mansion for the after-party, said he wished he had been more aggressive with some of those he had wanted for the docu.
While Whoopi Goldberg was eager to be on-camera, Kuehn said others such as Roseanne were reluctant. Bette Midler and Billy Crystal also needed to be persuaded. “He didn’t want people to know how he worked.”
It’s a tad early for a sequel, of course, but when the subject came up, Vilanch suggested “Had Bruce.”
