Claudie Cheval

Claudie Cheval, director of France’s Ateliers du Cinema Europeen (ACE), a training institute for film producers, died July 30 of cancer. She was 48.

Cheval had a long career in film sales, beginning in 1974 when she joined Munich’s Constantin Film. She went on to become director of world sales at Filmverlag der Autoren and Futura Film, both in Munich.

In 1989, Cheval co-founded Pyramide in Paris and served as director of world sales.

She became deputy director of ACE in 1995 and was appointed director in 1996.

She is survived by her husband, Lutz Minke.
