Christopher Laabs

Christopher Laabs, former dancer and assistant director in the script clearances department at Sony Pictures, died Oct. 31 at Midway Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles from complications of hepatitis B and HIV. He was 43.

Laabs worked at Columbia Studios/Sony Pictures for 15 years. Prior to his career in the film industry, he was a professional dancer who performed with the Margalit Oved Dance Co., the Rudy Perez Dancers and the Balliamo Renaissance Dance Co.

Laabs also volunteered as a facilitator for Hollywood Supports, a non-profit organization that delivers seminars about HIV and sexual orientation issues in the workplace.

He is survived by his partner, his mother and three brothers.

Memorial services will be held Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. at the Sony Pictures Plaza in Culver City.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Project Angel Food, the American Liver Foundation or Fringe Benefits Alliance.
